Shringara · loveBeauty, longing, the beloved — the king of rasas.
A Cheriyal scroll of living culture · Hyderabad
రస కూటమి
“The rasa lives in you — we just bring it out.”
Two words, two tongues — one idea, painted on one cloth.
In the classical theory of art, rasa is the emotional essence a performance distills — the aesthetic “taste” it leaves in you. The Natyashastra counts nine: love, wonder, courage, joy, and more.
A kootami is a coming-together — a collective bound by shared purpose. Here, that purpose is the living culture of Telangana.
Together — an alliance of essence: a gathering where the aesthetic spirit of Telangana is summoned, shared, and set loose.
The Natyashastra says every performance distills one of nine essences. We named ourselves after them.
Beauty, longing, the beloved — the king of rasas.
Mirth and mischief — the clown, the wink, the joy.
Sorrow that softens — grief turned to grace.
The blazing eye — anger of gods and warriors.
The Perini pulse — valour before the battle drum.
The shiver in the dark — night tales and spirits.
The recoil — art that unsettles to awaken.
The gasp — marvel at what hands can make.
Stillness after the storm — the ninth, the deepest.
Every edition asks one question — which rasa will you carry home?
Not a one-night show — a scroll that keeps unrolling, edition after edition.
Kootami means an alliance — a coming-together. We bring artists, makers, performers and audiences into one space so that the soul of Telangana is not just preserved, but felt.
From the Kakatiya warrior dance to string puppetry, from storyteller scrolls to handloom, every edition paints a new panel of our heritage — amplified for a new generation, staged for the world.
Whether you are an artist, a collector, a creator, a photographer, or simply someone who loves a beautiful story — this is where you will want to be.
